Creative Valentine Ideas

For many parts of the country Feb. 14^th comes during the winter months where cold weather prevents an outdoor picnic. For other parts of the country weather may permit an outdoor event on this special day. Either way I will give some ideas for some themed picnics for the day.

For those in colder climates simply clear back the furniture in the den or living room in front of the fireplace and set up a picnic. This will surprise the heck out of your partner. Leave the television set off unless you are going to play a romantic movie. Crank up the CD player with some romantic music. Dim the lights and use some candles.

We all know that certain colors symbolize Valentine’s Day. Red, white, and black are many of the favorites, however, you can use any color you want. Because Spring is just around the corner use any spring color you want.

RED THEMED PICNIC:

(1)    Red wine

(2)    Strawberries

(3)    Cherry or Rhubarb Pie/Red Velvet Cake

(4)    Port Wine Cheese (has red stripes throughout the cheese)

(5)    Red napkins

(6)    Ham or Salami are close enough to match the color theme

(7)    Red candles

(8)    Red rose

WHITE THEMED PICNIC

(1)    White wine/white champagne

(2)    White cheese (Havarti, white cheddar, or Gouda)

(3)    White napkins

(4)    White candles

(5)    White rose, white carnations, or white tulips

(6)    Chicken or turkey

(7)    White Bosco pears

(8)    White cake,  white chocolate, or cheesecake

BLACK THEMED PICNIC (Just so I could show you I could come up with it)

(1)    Dark cabernet wine

(2)    Black napkins

(3)    Black candles

(4)    Black raspberries/chocolate covered strawberries

(5)    Gorgonzola cheese (Has black stripes running through it)

(6)    Pepper crusted roast beef

(7)    Pumpernickel bread

(8)    Black rose, tulip, or black striped orchid

The point is that you can make a themed picnic around just about any color. Just takes a few moments to think about it and it will be color themed throughout. For the guys – let me assure you that you will impress her that you were able to do this one.
